Mojo

episode one:

1  Why does Mojo want to leave school? Can you sometimes relate to how Mojo is feeling?
The reason to why Mojo wants to leave school is because he feels like he isn't smart enough. He feels like the math tasks are too difficult for especially for him.

Yes, I do actually relate to Mojo sometimes. The only difference between me and Mojo is that I know that I can become smarter if I just work for it but that Mojo doesn’t know. That knowledge that I have makes me actually work even harder to get better and that’s why I don't quit.

2  What does Katie say to Mojo to convince him not to leave?
Katie says that people aren’t born smart or dumb. She says that anyone can be smart if they just work for it.

3  Do you think Mojo can become smarter? Why or why not?
Yes, I do think that Mojo can become smarter. The reason to why is because anyone can become smarter. He just has to work for it and make up some challenges for himself.

4 What subject do you feel frustrated by sometimes? Can you see yourself becoming smarter in that subject? How?
The subject that I usually feel really frustrated about is math. I think it’s hard but I do know that I can become better if I just practice. I can actually see myself becoming smarter in the future and that’s why I will keep challenging myself.

Episode two:

1. What does the quote from the video, "mistakes can make you smarter" mean to you?
It means that I shouldn't give up even if I make mistakes sometimes. You can learn from your mistakes and that’s why you should keep working for your final goals.

2 How can we learn from our mistakes? Talk about a specific, recent example.
We learn from our mistakes and one example to that is spelling things wrong. Let’s say that you have an English paper to send to your teacher where you spelled the word ”goodbye” wrong. When you get your feedback from your teacher, she’s probably going to tell you that you spelled the word wrong. She's also going to show you the right way to spell it for you to learn. And then the next time you need to spell this specific word you're going to spell it right because you learned from your mistake.

 3. If you were building a robot and kept "failing,” what would you do?
I actually don't know. I would love to keep trying but my patience is really low so I think that I would quit after a couple of times. But I would definitely try more than 8 or 9 times on my own and then google it or ask someone else for help.

Episode three:

1 What should you do if you are stuck on a project, math problem, or other learning?
You should try to relax and think in a peaceful environment by yourself without anyone or anything disturbing you. I also think you should ask a friend if you still can't figure it out. Otherwise you can just Google it because Google usually has all the answers.

2 Think of a time you were afraid to ask for help. Why did you feel afraid? I can't really remember a specific time when that happened but sometimes I forget really easy things in some subjects. It's not that I don't know the answers it's just that I have forgotten them and it makes me feel really stupid to ask sometimes. I usually do find out the answers by asking anyway.

3. Why is the word "yet" so powerful? Think of a "yet" moment in your life and describe it.

I didn't find the word "yet" so powerful when I first thought about it. But now I get it. It's not really about the word. It's about our mindset and how the word can affect us. I know it's a tiny word but it can really motivate you. There's a big difference between saying "I can't do it" and "I can't do it yet". I actually have a "yet" moment in my life right now. I'm not so god at math.. yet.

Episode four:

1 What are neurons and how do we make connections between our neurons?
Neurons are the brain cells in your brain that make everything in your body function correctly. They are sending signals to the rest of the body by connecting to each other.
2 Think of an example where you made some new connections in your brain. What were you doing?
I do think that we're making new connections in our brain really often everyday but one example is when I'm learning something new in school. For example some new calculations in math class.
3 What can you do this week to make some new connections? Set one specific goal.
I can work with my school tasks even if they're really challenging sometimes. I want to finish all my tasks in a good time and not in the last minute and that craves that I'm actually doing them even if they are hard.

Episode five:

1 What does it feel like when something is too challenging? Is it wrong that we feel this way?

It feels like I'm never going to succeed with the thing that I'm doing. Like I should just give up and do something else. I don't think it's wrong to feel this way because we're still humans. But you should still think about how challenges affect you and how you can become smarter because that mindset will probably keep you going.

2. What kind of attitude should we take on when facing a challenge, and why is that important?

We should have a positive attitude when we're facing a challenge. You will probably not succeed with a negative attitude. You should always think about how your brain works and why the challenges are good for you because that will keep you working on your challenges.

3 When taking on a challenge, it's okay to ask for help or to take a break to reflect, like Mojo did! Does this mean we aren't growing our brain anymore?
Of course not. Your brain is still working on finding a solution and it's actually good to take breaks. We would get really tired without breaks and the challenge would become harder because our brain isn't working as good as it should when we're tired.

2: Episode 1:

1 What is a dip?
A dip is a time of your life when some things don't go as you want them to. It’s like you’ve fallen into a dip where you can’t get up as easily as possible. Some people say that life is like a rollercoaster because of the ups and downs. I would describe the dips as the downs in the rollercoaster. Everyone has dips and everyone can get up from them.

2 Where/what situations might we encounter a dip in?
I think you can encounter a dip in all kinds of situations. One example is in math class. Lets say that you are always really good in math class. That’s a good thing right? But then the teacher changes the calculates to the more difficult ones that you’ve never done before. That might get you into a dip where you have to work harder then usual to get up and be good again.

3 What kind of emotions accompany a dip, and how can we stay positive?
We can stay positive by thinking that there’s always a way out of the dip. The only thing we have to do is to work hard enough. The kinds of emotions I get when I'm in a dip is the negative ones. I usually feel like it isn't worth working my way up and like I’m never going to succeed. I feel sad and like I’m not good enough even though I know it isn't true.

2: Episode 2:

1 What should you do when you make a mistake?
I think you should try again after making a mistake. One mistake doesn’t mean that you’ll never succeed. It just means that it didn't work out that specific time but you will succeed as long as you keep trying.

2 What will happen if you continue to repeat this process? Try using the word "neuron" in your explanation!
It’s actually good to make mistakes sometimes and it’s even better if you keep working after you’ve made the mistakes. The reason to why is that your neurons start working when you're doing something challenging. They’re getting stronger and stronger the more you're working.

3 So how do we escape the dip?
We can escape the dip by training and doing our mistakes until we make it. It’s just a hard working process and you really have to continue with your work after your mistakes to learn. Mistakes makes you smart and you can easily get out of the dip if you become smarter.

2: Episode 3:

1 How does it feel to escape the dip? Can you have more than one dip?
Yes, I think you can have more than one dip, why not?
It feels amazing to escape the dip. It feels like you’ve done a good job even if it was hard.

2 Often we want to be the best at what we are doing. Instead of comparing our success with others, what kind of attitude can we have?
I think it’s great when you compare you to yourself. You don’t have to be the best even if it feels great sometimes. You just have to see if you’ve done better then the last time you did something. So our attitude should be about becoming better than we were before not about becoming the best and comparing ourselves to others.

3 In the video, Mojomus Edison says that failing is "learning new ways to improve." What does that mean?

I think he means that we learn from our mistakes and that the mistakes is a part of our success. Everyone with success has made mistakes and that’s how they learned to become better and to become successful.
